The 4th Trimester Initiative

The 4th trimester is the 12-week period after you give birth. During this time, there are many physical and emotional changes happening within your body as your baby adjusts to being outside the womb, and you adjust to your new life as a mom.

We believe this time should be honored with rest, healing, lots of love, and support. We understand this to be a very critical time filled with nutritional, physical, and emotional needs.

We’re here to help.

This initiative will serve and support moms, who have given birth within the last 3 months. Each month, 10 moms will be chosen and matched with a Mommy Buddy, a member of our District Motherhued® Society.

Distance Learning Support Box

In September 2020, District Motherhued® launched a Distance Learning Support Box initiative to provide aid to local caregivers and children as they prepared for distance learning to resume for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Through this initiative, District Motherhued provided 500 vulnerable children and families in need with back-to-school necessities. The boxes were designated for young boys and girls, and are geared towards low-income elementary age students grade K-2 who do not have the resources to purchase school supplies.

We partnered with one DC public school, one Southeast D.C. community organization, one Prince George’s County public school and one Baltimore public school to donate boxes filled with supplies and activities for students, and toiletries for caregivers. Noyes Elementary (D.C.), Princeton Elementary (PG), and Cecil Elementary (Baltimore) were the recipient schools . Community of Hope served as a community pick-up location.  Several local and national brands provided both monetary and in-kind donations. Sponsors and partners include Dove, Eden Bodyworks, Play Pits, Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, Puzzle Huddle, The Science Teacher Mom, Made After 8, Partake Foods, DC Government-Paid Family Leave and The Learning Cove

The Christmas Project

District Motherhued® joined forces with  DTLR and Life Abundantly Coaching to spread holiday cheer to single mothers in the DC Metro and surrounding areas via #TheChristmasProject –  a holiday gifting initiative targeting single, Black moms in need. District Motherhued received a $20,000 grant to sponsor holiday wish lists. Upon receiving over 900 wish list applications, and realizing the grant would only be able to cover the wish lists of 30 moms, we tapped into our #DMVMomTribe sponsors additional families. We paired one mom per family, and we were able to fulfill the Christmas wish lists of 90 local families.
